Overview

Heckfield Place is a Georgian family home woven back into 438 acres of Hampshire countryside restored, not recreated. Everything here begins with the soil: the House itself was positioned to follow the movement of the sun, and its rhythms still follow nature's pace rather than a clock. This is not a hotel that performs luxury. It's a working estate that happens to also be one of England's most quietly remarkable places to stay.

Sanctuaries (Rooms)

The accommodation is divided into six room categories, ranging from intimate corridor rooms to highly individual signature suites and two standalone cottages. Across categories, rooms are designed to feel like private rooms in a beautifully kept country home, with garden or estate views, natural materials, original British artworks, handmade “Little Pantries” stocked with house-made seasonal snacks and drinks, Wildsmith Skin amenities, Wi‑Fi, Apple TV/Sky TV, and air conditioning in most accommodations.

Restaurants

Marle, awarded a Michelin Green Star, keeps its cooking pared back food served close to how it came from the earth, its menu shifting with whatever the estate provides that week. Hearth is its warmer, more casual counterpart, built around an open fire, simple and heartfelt, using the best produce available on the day.

Bars

Moon Bar comes alive after dark midnight-blue walls, a disco ball, a fireplace, and cocktails built from infusions made with Home Farm ingredients. Workman's Bar leans more relaxed still, its walls lined with paintings telling the story of the estate's many hands, pouring local beers and classic cocktails on weekend evenings.

Pool (The Waters)

Housed within The Bothy by Wildsmith, The Waters is a 60-foot chlorine-free pool lit by floor-to-ceiling glass and a skylight above nature brought indoors rather than a typical spa pool. An outdoor hot tub and cold plunge sit alongside it, all part of the same slow, unhurried rhythm the rest of the estate keeps.

Gardens

The grounds carry the legacy of William Wildsmith, head gardener from 1867, whose plantings of chestnut, lime, and yew became a celebrated arboretum in his own time. Today the woodlands are still tended in his spirit ancient trees propagated and replanted so they'll still be standing 150 years from now.

Farm

Heckfield's fully certified biodynamic Market Garden and organic Home Farm supply much of what lands on the table a herd of Guernsey cows, an orchard of 500 fruit trees, seven greenhouses, and a growing colony of bees. It isn't a garnish on the hotel experience. It's the actual source of most of what guests eat.
